OGTAC-CC call for ACTRIS related training activities on organic tracers and aerosol constituents within the framework of the CAIS-ECAC

The OrGanic Tracers and Aerosol Constituents - Calibration Centre (OGTAC-CC), hosted and operated by TROPOS ACD as one TC unit of the CAIS-ECAC consortium, is announcing the following activity for all operators of ACTRIS NFs (observational and exploratory platforms as well as to all other interested scientists, engineers and technicians:

Topic:

Theory and practice – Offline chromatographic determination of organic tracer compounds and organic and elemental carbon (OC/EC) measurements in particulate matter collected on filters

OGTAC-CC offers a hands-on training course at TROPOS ACD, with the following elements:

  • Introduction and presentation of sample collectors, preparation devices, and analytical instrumentation
  • Dedicated hands-on training in state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation (LC-MS and OC/EC) including filter extraction, analysis, and quantification of organic marker compounds
  • Demonstration of sample collection during an experimental run at the atmospheric simulation chamber ACD-C and during a visit to the TROPOS field station in Melpitz
  • Lectures in atmospheric particle-related chemical analysis

The course will be held for 5 days from Monday 7th to Friday 11th of April 2025 at TROPOS ACD in Leipzig. The number of participants is limited to 8.

The operators of future NFs planning to measure particulate organics from filters should consider participation in the training course as a part of their QA/QC measures.

The ACTRIS TC operational costs fund the training course. However, participants have to cover their travel + accommodation costs.
