Provider
Centre for Aerosol In Situ - European Centre for Aerosol Calibration (CAIS-ECAC)

CAIS-ECAC had several collaboration with different private sector companies (see a few reference below) to develop their instruments further and bring them into line with the requirements of ACTRIS. Moreover,  CAIS-ECAC advises companies to make their instruments more efficient which results in improved and completely new models.

The collaboration with some companies (e.g., TSI, GRIMM) is not entirely project-oriented but more focused on standardization activities. Standards (in line also with WMO and GAW standards) for in-situ aerosol measurements and techniques for ACTRIS National Facilities across Europe and, in some cases, worldwide, were developed by CAIS-CAIS-ECAC . The collaboration between ACTRIS and these companies has often been aimed at upgrading their instrumentation in line with CEN and ISO standards. An example is the collaboration between TSI, CAIS-ECAC, and most of the ACTRIS NFs that widely use the TSI aerosol particle counters and sizer to calibrate different TSI instruments and particularly to verify, test, and calibrate their new ultrafine Condensation Particle Counter 3772-CEN. This newly developed instrument complies with the Technical Specification CEN/TS 16976, drafted by the European Committee for Standardization, for harmonizing the measurement and sampling of ultrafine particles. The testing and development of TSI technology at ECAC ensures reliable data in thousands of installed TSI instruments worldwide.

Aerodyne is a DT3 (drone technology, data technology & digital transformation) enterprise solutions provider, leading the global tech curve in the use of drone data and AI-powered analytics to resolve complex industrial challenges, enabling organisations to rapidly scale, digitally transform, operate optimally and increase productivity.

Brechtel designs and develops aerosol measurement devices and software to facilitate research on climate change and air quality. Brechtel takes part in many aerosol research projects for government agencies and the private sector participating in studies and developing instrumentation.

Airmodus manufactures aerosol particle measurement devices for the detection of the very smallest airborne particles: the Airmodus Particle Size Magnifier (PSM) allows scientist to count individual particles as small as 1 nm in diameter, bringing the aerosol measurements down to molecular scales. The Airmodus Condensation Particle Counters (CPCs) are user-friendly tools e.g. for researcher, air quality authorities and vehicle engine developers for counting sub-micron aerosol particles.

GRIMM AEROSOL TECHNIK, a DURAG GROUP company, is a renowned specialist in the development and manufacture of state-of-the-art aerosol measurement technology. With over 40 years of experience, the company offers innovative solutions for the detection and analysis of aerosol particles in various fields such as environmental monitoring, occupational safety and research

Palas is a leading developer and manufacturer of high-precision instruments for the generation, measurement and characterization of particles in air.

TSI Incorporated is an ndustry leader in the design and production of precision measurement instruments, TSI partners with research institutions and customers around the world to set the standard for measurements relating to aerosol science, air flow, indoor air quality, fluid dynamics and biohazard detection.
